Tips: When You’re Awaiting Your Visit For…

Have you scheduled dental care visit with us? When you’re coming in for a particular issue, whether it’s discomfort, discoloration, or otherwise, we generally advise you to take it easy. We know you may feel like you should be doing something proactive but, to the contrary, it’s usually best to take a hands off approach! Learn more about what we mean.

A Visit For TMJ Problems

If you’re coming in for a dental care visit to find out what’s wrong with your TMJs, there are some things you don’t want to do. They’re very simple! In order to rest your jaws as your visit approaches, you should remember the following:

  • Don’t stretch your jaws, whether this means opening your mouth wide or literally trying out stretching exercises. This can make things worse.
  • Don’t overwork your jaw. This means stop excessive snacking, biting nails, chewing gum, etc. Let jaws rest.

A Visit For Tooth Pain

Do your teeth hurt? Leave them alone (aside from essential eating, talking, and dental hygiene). The more you mess with them, the worse they will feel.

A Visit For Cosmetic Care

We understand that you may think it’s best to try to sort out some of your smile issues on your own before you come in. That way, you think, you may not need care that’s an intensive. Maybe you think you can save money. However, we strongly suggest against putting forth any extra effort, which means don’t read up on tons of details and do not try DIY (do it yourself) or OTC (over the counter) treatments. Simply come in to avoid filling your head with misinformation and to avoid accidentally damaging teeth before we see you for cosmetic dental care.
