3 Things You Want To Avoid (And How To Do So)

Are you worried about any particular oral health issue? A potential problem with your smile? Are you primarily concerned with damage or your dental care and how to avoid running into problems? If so, our Grand Prairie, TX team is thrilled that you’re so concerned with prevention, as it’s certainly the way to go! Regarding particulars and how to avoid them: Let’s help you get started! For further details, see us soon.

#1: Chipped, Broken Teeth

Nobody wants to experience chipped teeth, broken teeth, cracked teeth, etc. The good news is that if this does end up happening to you (sometimes it just happens when you couldn’t have foreseen it!), we offer cosmetic care, dental crowns, and more to get your smile back in order. However, to do your best to avoid this cosmetic and/or oral health blunder, remember:

  • Eat food that gives when you bite into it. If something seems too hard, it probably is.
  • Use your fork and knife to cut food, scissors to cut packaging, etc. Don’t rely too much on your teeth.
  • Wear an athletic mouthguard when you’re participating in something very active.

#2: Cavities!

Yes, of course, you have heard about this before. If you keep up with us and if you come in for your dental checkups, then you hear a lot about tooth decay. That’s because it can develop easily but it can also be avoided quite easily, too! Let’s talk about how you can avoid cavities as you protect your oral health, so you can avoid requiring restorative care, too:

  • As mentioned, you should be coming in for dental checkups and cleanings. It’s extremely helpful.
  • You should brush twice a day. You know this! Don’t skip a session and you’re on track.
  • You need to remember to floss every day. It might seem like something that’s not that important but it really is if you want to practice excellent prevention.

#3: Falling Behind

We know from experience in watching patients throughout their care with us that it’s very easy to fall behind with your smile care, which can cause all sorts of problems, from embarrassment to literal issues with your smile. It’s also very easy to avoid this happening:

  • Schedule visits ahead of time, so you don’t end up waiting too long.
  • The moment you think you’re behind or it’s “too late” for something, let us know, so we can help you feel caught up before you’ve ignored an issue for a very long time.
  • If you feel nervous or unsure about something, ask us questions, so we can help you stay on track.
