Question: How do I figure out whether my child’s wisdom teeth have begun to develop, if they’re impacted, if they require removal, etc.? Are there some signs that I should look out for or will you be the one determining these details?
Answer: It’s possible that your son or daughter may notice them as they start to grow in. However, we can detect their presence and their health long before this occurs if you’re keeping up with checkups. There’s nothing you need to do other than to speak with us about exams and imaging.
Question: If my child requires wisdom teeth removal, will you be the practice removing the teeth or will we have to visit an oral surgeon that you suggest?
Answer: Yes! You will be able to bring your child to us for the oral surgery, rather than feeling like you need to try to feel good about visiting another practice you’ve never experienced before. This makes things easy!
Question: Are there any smarter times to schedule wisdom teeth removal for my child than others? I know it can take a few days to fully recover, so I don’t want to disrupt my child’s schedule!
Answer: We often suggest winter break or summer vacation. This helps you avoid accidentally causing your child to miss school, so there’s plenty of time for the procedure and the quick recovery period.
