2 Lies You Tell Yourself About Fillings

There are some lies you may be telling yourself about dental fillings. Of course, you’re not doing this intentionally. You may be trying to rationalize reasons it’s okay for you to just avoid coming in for care to address tooth decay (even though you really do need treatment). You may have heard rumors. Or, you may just feel a little upset that you have a cavity. Remember, though, that if you begin taking excellent care of your teeth, you may avoid cavities in the future! For now, let’s run through a couple little lies you may have begun to believe, so you can instead feel positive about scheduling time for your much needed filling.

#1: Nobody You Know Has Them

Start asking around. You will quickly find that if you think you’re the only person on this planet or even within your community who has a dental filling (or several), you are absolutely not. Most of the people you ask will have at least one filling or may admit that they need one! Cavities are extremely common. They’re so common, in fact, that just about everyone walking the earth will end up with at least one.

#2: You Don’t Have Time

Dental fillings don’t take long, they’re comfortable to receive, and you can get right back to your daily schedule. That means you can go back to the office, to school, or anything else! While they will take just a bit of time away from your day, remember that ignoring the filling and ending up with a need for more intensive care (like a crown or root canal) will require much more of your time. Avoid this by saying yes to the filling right away.
