How Often You Should…?

One line of questioning that often comes up during visits with our patients has to do with how often certain aspects of dental care should happen. This is the type of stuff that patients often feel they should magically know. However, if a dentist has never spelled it out for you or if you haven’t received care in a while, it might be something you are simply unfamiliar with. To make sure you have the basics down, we offer answers to the most common questions we receive about frequency of oral health care.

Schedule A Cleaning And Checkup?

You should schedule a cleaning and checkup two times a year. These are preventive services that you will schedule for one single visit. To keep your oral health in its best condition, we generally suggest that you schedule your visits around once every six months.

Brush Your Teeth?

Brushing your teeth every day is important but it’s even more essential that you do this twice every day. Brush your smile in the morning. Remember to brush your smile again before you go to bed. It’s one of the best things you can do to safeguard your oral health.

Floss Your Smile?

You should be flossing daily. Nothing else to remember, just once a day.

Purchase More Products?

Everyone uses his or her dental hygiene products differently, which means you might run out of toothpaste more quickly than someone else. We suggest you purchase a replacement the moment you think to yourself, “Oh no, that’s getting low!” As for toothbrushes, everyone should start fresh every three months.
