How We Restore Teeth With Lifelike Bonding

Cosmetic dentistry helps improve the beauty of your smile, and with procedures like bonding and contouring, we can complete care in only one visit. From stained teeth to gaps between them, we can offer major improvement in a single sitting! In today’s blog, your Grand Prairie, TX, dentist talks about the benefits of lifelike dental bonding.

Dental Bonding

Dental bonding employs the same lifelike and durable material that we use for our tooth-colored dental fillings. The composite resin material contains no metal and is safe for patients of all ages, even kids. Made from a mixture of glass-like and acrylic-like particles, this can be shaded to blend with the tooth structure and the smile itself. The placement only takes one visit!

Our team will numb your tooth to ensure you are comfortable while we clean it and etch the outer structure. We then apply the composite resin, which we have shaded to blend with your tooth. After we apply this in multiple layers, we will sand and mold the tooth to ensure a proper appearance and balance. Finally, we polish it for a brighter appearance.

With this procedure, we can mask permanent teeth stains that could otherwise resist teeth whitening. Placement could repair minor chips and cracks and even lengthen worn-down tooth structure. We could also fill in gaps and black triangle spaces between the teeth, and address malformed teeth too.

Contouring Your Teeth

With dental contouring, we can also make same-day cosmetic improvements, but with a very different approach. Our team won’t add new materials to the tooth. Instead, we will gently buff and sand the outer structure to reshape the teeth and address common cosmetic imperfections in one sitting. For example, we can dull jagged, pointed, or sharp portions of structure. The contouring procedure could also address overly large or misshapen teeth and correct the appearance of a chipped tooth. Wed can even smooth away rough patches, pits, and grooves in the outer surfaces. We can do this in the same visit as your bonding procedure too.

Starting Treatment

How do you get started? If you have cosmetic imperfections with your smile then our team can offer help, and that starts with an initial visit. When you arrive, we will talk to you about your oral hygiene habits and the cosmetic issues you want to see addressed. We will then examine your smile, which includes the use of advanced digital imaging, so we can make a diagnosis and plan treatment with precision and accuracy. From there, we will create a personalized treatment plan to improve your smile’s appearance. Along with bonding and contouring, we also have teeth whitening and even custom porcelain veneers. For some, we could even plan a smile makeover!
