In our blog we usually cover dental topics, educating our patients and their families about caring for their teeth and gums. But occasionally, we like to take a break from these topics and talk a little about our community! In today’s blog, your Grand Prairie, TX, dentist talks about fun events happening in our city this weekend and throughout May.
From now through May 26th, you can visit the Epic Remembrance Memorial on the GrandLawn at 2961 South highway 161. In a tribute to our fallen heroes, this will feature 400 American flags, representing the ones who gave their lives for our country. Family members are also invited to leave tribute cards if they want.
The Grand Prairie Parks, Arts, and Recreation department will be hosting Bug Fest on Saturday, May 17th starting at 10am. The event takes place at Lynn Creek Park at Joe Pool Lake on 5610 Lake Ridge Parkway. You and your family can learn all about bugs and creepy crawlies with exhibits, hands-on activities for everyone, and more. The event lasts until 2pm and is free for local residents. Out of towners will need to pay $15 for parking. A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon with the family!
Bring the whole family for a celebration of history and heritage at Gathering at The Village from Saturday, May 17th to Sunday, May 18th from noon to 5pm each day. There will be tribal dances, music, traditional foods, and tons of cultural fun. The event takes place at 2602 Mayfield Road, don’t miss out!
Mark your calendars for the 2025 Memorial Day Ceremony on May 26th starting at 10am. The event is hosted by the Grand Prairie Parks, Arts, and Recreation department, and takes place at the Veterans Park Event Center on 925 Conover Drive. A dedicated brass bell will be rung after reading the names of each local service personnel who lost lives during battle. There will be a 21-gun salute and Taps will be played as well. At the end of the ceremony, there will be hot dogs and lemonade provided by the Grand Prairie Rotary Clubs.
On May 31st from 5om until 8:30pm you and your family can visit the Texas Monthly Taco Fest! The festival takes place at EpicCentral on 2961 State Highway 161. Celebrate a day dedicated to the best food around!
